Minimize Your Risk And Liability With Halogen’s Emergency Valve Shutoff Systems

If you use Chlorine or other hazardous gases you know the risks associated with them. Halogen’s Emergency Shutoff Systems provide an extra measure of safety for these environments.

  • Protect your personnel
  • Protect the environment
  • Don’t let a gas leak become a reportable Hazmat incident

Halogen Valve Systems is the leading manufacturer of electronically actuated emergency valve shutoff systems for chlorine and sulfur dioxide 150 lb cylinders and ton containers.

If you feed Chlorine, Sulfur Dioxide, Ammonia or other potentially dangerous gases from cylinders or ton containers, Halogen’s Emergency Valve Shutoff Systems can provide you with a critical extra measure of safety.

Do not let a gas leak become a reportable Hazmat incident. Stop a leak within seconds of detection by automatically closing the ton container or cylinder valve. Halogen’s actuators quickly mount to cylinder valves without the use of any tools, and still allow the valve to be manually opened or closed while the actuator is in place.

All of Halogen’s shutoff systems are Fire Code approved replacements for gas scrubber treatment systems.

Halogen Eclipse™ Actuator – Emergency Valve Shutoff Actuator for Ton Containers and 150 lb Cylinders.

Halogen’s Eclipse actuators and system controllers are designed to be used with standard 150 lb. cylinder and ton container valves. The Eclipse is an automatic-closing, fail-safe valve closer that supplements the manual operation of these valves by providing for powered valve closure in case of an emergency. No modification of existing container valve or related hardware is required to install the system controller or Eclipse actuator. The Eclipse actuator is the heart of the Hexacon, Duplex and Simplex systems where greater closing torque on the valve is required.

    Features:

    • Closes valve in less than one second.
    • Mounting clamp fits standard valve and hardware.
    • Through-shaft design enables manual operation at all times.
    • One-way clutch insures power-to-close only.
    • Applies Chlorine Institute recommended torque

Eclipse™ XP Actuator – Emergency Valve Shutoff Actuator for Low Torque Hand Wheel Style Chlorine and SO2 Valves.

The ECLIPSE XP™ electric emergency shutdown system uses a unique and modern approach to instantly stop the flow of chlorine or SO2 at the tank valve. In contrast to traditional pneumatic systems, the ECLIPSE XP electric actuators operate off of a 12 VDC battery located in the controller that is continuously charged via line voltage.

Should the plant ever lose AC power to the controller, the battery has enough power to safely operate the system for up to 3 days and multiple valve closures. Because the system can detect a spike in electrical current to the motor, the actuator is able to detect the torque that is generated as the valve begins to engage the valve seat. This unique and patented feature allows the operators to know that not only did they activate their system, but that the valve is actually closed. No other actuator on the market is able to make this claim.

    Features:

    • All electric/battery powered operation.
    • Torque Sense Technology knows when valve is closed.
    • No Pneumatics: Maintenance free /very low power use.
    • Simple installation, no separate storage kiosk required.
    • Closes valve in 1 second.
    • Up to 3 days of built-in battery backup.
    • Independent test buttons for each cylinder.
    • Shutdown via gas detectors, panic buttons or PLC.

Terminator™ Actuator Gravity Mount – Emergency Valve Shutoff Actuator for 150 lb Cylinders

The Terminator valve actuator with Gemini controller is an economical emergency chlorine shutoff system designed for use on 150 lb (68 kg) type chlorine and sulfur dioxide cylinders commonly used at water and wastewater treatment plants. The system is DC electric powered with AC only used for keeping battery optimally charged at all times. In the event of a loss of AC power, the system continues to protect for 24 hours. If AC power remains off for an extended period of time, the system will auto-initiate emergency close while sufficient battery power remains.

The Terminator is compatible with standard valves meeting Chlorine Institute specifications and requires no tools or adapters for installation. The Terminator is simply placed on the cylinder valve after process connections are made, leak tested, and the valve opened. Being a safety device, the Terminator is only powered in the closing direction. When the Gemini controller receives an emergency close signal from a gas detector, emergency shutoff switch, or other input, the Terminator is activated and the cylinder valve is rapidly closed. One or two Terminator actuators may be controlled by the Gemini, making this the perfect safety solution for both single and dual cylinder applications. System includes a low voltage 24VDC relay output for remote indication of emergency close activation and an optional relay interface module provides dry contact relays with latching capabilities when required.

    Features:

    • Economical, low cost solution.
    • Protects personnel and community by quickly and automatically stopping a gas leak.
    • Easy-to-use gravity mount design for 150 lb (68kg) cylinders.
    • Battery powered system – continues to protect for up to 5 days if AC power lost.
    • Fire code approved for many applications as scrubber alternative.
    • Helps comply with RMP gas leak mitigation requirement.
    • Compatible with all cylinder mounted vacuum regulators.
    • Actuator retention pin for added security.

Terminator™ Actuator Yoke Mount – Emergency Valve Shutoff Actuator for Ton Containers

The Terminator valve actuator with Gemini controller is an economical emergency chlorine shutoff system designed for use on chlorine and sulfur dioxide ton containers (one tonne drums) commonly used at water and wastewater treatment plants. The system is DC electric powered with AC only used for keeping battery optimally charged at all times. In the event of a loss of AC power, the system continues to protect for 24 hours. If AC power remains off for an extended period of time, the system will auto-initiate emergency close while sufficient battery power remains.

    Features:

    • Economical, low cost solution.
    • Protects personnel and community by quickly and automatically stopping a gas leak.
    • Easy-to-use clamp mount design for ton containers.
    • Battery powered system – continues to protect for up to 5 days if AC power lost.
    • Fire code approved for many applications as scrubber alternative.
    • Helps comply with RMP gas leak mitigation requirement.
    • Compatible with most tank mounted vacuum regulators.
